The Main Benefits Of Exercise

Is exercise beneficial? Of course it is and here are the some of the main benefits of exercise:

Exercising increases your metabolism meaning you can either eat more or burn more fat. The more often you exercise the more you can increase the aerobic capacity of your body. This increases the amount of energy your muscles can release when oxygen is not present in the cells. The result is the ability to go through a day with a lower heart rate and get less tired from daily activities. Meaning a “fit” person will have more energy when the day is done and feel less fatigued.

There are many more benefits of exercising to be gained when performing a regular fitness routine and eating healthy. Such as an improved self confidence, by having control of your body shape, size and weight. Looking better and being confident empowers the mind in everything it does. Self-discipline will be learned through devotion to regular exercise and will affect other areas of a person’s life, empowering them to make the necessary life-style or daily changes required to reach their goals.

With increased self-discipline comes a more focused mind. Recent research has shown that exercising into old age helps maintain blood flow to the brain tissues and maintain improved function while also defending against mental diseases associated with old age.

Along with the mental benefits of maintaining exercise into old age, there are also physical benefits by decreasing the chances of suffering a stroke or heart attack. As exercising helps strengthen the arteries, improve blood flow and protect against high blood pressure.

Increased blood flow resulting from exercises helps get nutrients to the bones, while weight bearing exercises improves bone density which in the end results in a decreased risk of osteoporosis.

Overall the benefits of exercise are far reaching and an essential step in maintaining good health. The mental hurdle of actually getting to the gym seems to be the largest denominator in those who do not go. It could be argued it is as simple as putting a thought into action in order to receive the benefits.
