By combining only foods that require the same gastric juices, food combining makes good digestion easier, leading to better health.

One food at a meal creates the easiest, best digestion. But when you do combine foods, use this food combining chart to choose combos.

Healthy high protein foods include lean poultry, omega 3 fish, raw nuts and seeds, low-fat dairy and most types of beans and legumes.

Non-starchy vegetables are asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, eggplant, green leafy vegetables like green lettuce, spinach and kale, parsley, red and green peppers, etc. Tomatoes, although a fruit, may be eaten with non-starchy vegetables.

Starches and grains include brown rice, oatmeal, whole grain breads and pasta, beets, corn, lima beans, potatoes and winter squash.

Fruits and Melons should not be combined with other food groups. While most fruits can be mixed, melons are best eaten alone.

Healthy Fats and Oils, mainly virgin olive oil, omega 3 fish oils and very small amounts of organic butter, should be eaten sparingly.

Eat small meals 4 to 6 times a day. Allow at least one hour, preferably two, between meals. To help eliminate poor digestion problems even faster, include good quality digestive enzymes taken before every meal.
